We just wrapped up a masculine new brand for Colorado photographer Derek Christy! He came to us looking for a brand that evoked the comfortable atmosphere of a coffee shop or local pub. One that feels hip and artsy, yet familiar and comfortable.
After working for a traditional portrait studio for many years, he was finally branching out on his own. And he wanted a solid new brand to help launch his business. So we got to work on his project, starting with the logo development. After flushing out some early concepts, we finally landed on a circular logo design featuring a monogram of Derek’s initials. One that would work perfectly and stand strongly on its own as well as mixed in with his packaging materials.
Here’s a peek at Derek’s inspiration, as well as his new masculine logo design:
The next phase of Derek’s project was his print collateral. We decided on a square letterpress business card featuring a blind debossed pattern on a charcoal grey cotton stock. Then we applied the same design concept to his stationery, including Thank You cards to be handwritten and sent to all his clients.
The last part of Derek’s project was his fully responsive website design. Pulling inspiration from Armani’s fashion-forward and clean, masculine style, we came up with a masonry-based design that put all the emphasis where it belonged: on his photography.
